1954 Born in Nazca (Peru)
1973 Studied medicine at the San Luis Gonzaga de Ica University in Peru
1976 Chosen by the state to study overseas in the German Democratic Republic
1977 Studied medicine at the Karl-Marx University in Leipzig
1982 Final examinations at the Karl-Marx University in Leipzig
1989 Further medical training at the Charité Hospital in Berlin as a specialist in children′s surgery
1994 Doctor for the homeless in Berlin
1997 Awarded the Federal Cross of Merit Bundesverdienstkreuz, the highest decoration for services to the state, by President Roman Herzog
1997 Journey to Peru, Jenny De la Torre is proclaimed an honorary citizen of her home town Nazca
1998 Guest lecturer on Social Medicine at the Institute for Social Medicine, Epidemiology and Health Economics at the Charité hospital in Berlin
2002 Representative for Verbundnetz der Wärme or “Web of Connections for Warmth”, an eastern German initiative working to support voluntary actions
The Jenny De la Torre Foundation is founded on 10 December in support of Berlin’s homeless people, with Jenny De la Torre as chairwoman. The Foundation′s aim is to provide open-door, unbureaucratic medical care for Berlin′s homeless population, and to establish a health-centre for the homeless 2003 Due to the medical company MUT′s intention to reduce Jenny De la Torre’s working hours at the practice for homeless people at Berlin’s Ostbahnhof from 40 to 25 a week, she decides to make the Foundation independent of MUT’s parent organisation, the Berlin Medical Association.
2004 Active as the Foundation′s chairwoman
Guest lecturer of medicine at the Charité Hospital in Berlin
